the jumping-off point

Well, as someone once said, sometimes it's best just to do it. So here we begin the online musings and (mostly) beer-related blogs from your own ever-lovin' Chicago Beer Girl, Salls.

I have Olympic fever! And what goes better with a big-screen TV and the biggest, longest reality show on earth (some call it the Olympics) than a delicious beer? A lovely brew that I recommend for Olympic viewing is Origin Pomegranate Ale from Shmaltz Brewing (the good people who bring you He'brew beers). Pomegranates are good for your immune system, you know, so do yourself a favor and strengthen your immune system while wondering if you could swim anywhere near as fast as Michael Phelps.
Another tasty option is the limited-release Great Lakes Imperial Dortmunder from Cleveland, Ohio. It's a more intense, robust version of their Dortmunder Gold -- somewhat darker, sweeter, with a more aggressive hop presence and of course more alcohol.

That's it for tonight, kiddies . . . stay with us as Salls employs the learn-by-doing method of web publishing.
